Eighth place finish in Last Call opener at Charlotte, finishes third in World of Outlaws standings

Cade Dillard wrapped up his sophomore season with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series last week. The driver known as “Thriller” ended the 2020 campaign with two wins, 13 Top-5’s, and 24 Top-10 performances behind the wheel of his S&S Fishing & Rental Inc. No. 97 MB Customs/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Dillard recorded his first win on the national tour at New Mexico’s Vado Speedway Park in January. The highlight of Cade’s season was a career-high $30,000 payday for his triumph in the Firecracker at Lernerville (Pa.) Speedway in June.

“It’s been a great year for me. The stuff that I’ve been able to achieve and accomplish has been a dream come true. Some of the stuff we’ve been able to do, I would’ve never imagined in a million years. I was blessed with a lot of great opportunities this year. To be in the top three with Brandon and Ricky is a huge honor.”

Cade Dillard invaded the Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. on Wednesday for the World of Outlaws “Last Call” – a midweek doubleheader that replaced the tour’s season-ending World Finals because coronavirus restrictions limiting large gatherings.

With a field of 55 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries registered, Cade came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a fourth-place finish, transferring him into the B-Main.

Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Dillard earned the 21st-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-10, Cade Dillard passed 13 cars in the 50-lap affair to register an eighth-place finish.

For another $12,000-to-win program on Thursday, Dillard followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat race with a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Ryan King. Starting the finale in 23rd, Cade marched forward 11 positions in the 50-lapper to come in 12th.

His 12th-place finish on Thursday secured Dillard a third-place finish in the final World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship standings.
