11th-place finish in USA Nationals at Cedar Lake

On Thursday afternoon, 49 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries were in the pit area at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature leading up the 34th annual USA Nationals. After topping the charts in time trials, Cade Dillard logged a fourth-place finish in his heat race, relegating him into the B-Main.

With persistent rain shifting his consolation event to Friday, Dillard locked his spot into the A-Main with a 10-lap victory. Passing seven cars in the 30-lapper, Cade recorded a 13th-place outing.

Later that evening for a pair of heat races, Cade followed a runner-up finish in his first heat with a fourth-place finish in the second round. With the top 16 in passing points getting locked into the main event on Saturday, Dillard sat in sixth overall, sending him into the Dash. Outrunning Ashton Winger in the eight-lapper, Cade locked into the pole for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win USA Nationals.

Fading outside the Top-10, Cade Dillard dropped 10 spots in the 100-lap affair to place 11th.

Cade climbed to sixth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
