Dillard tops World of Outlaws foes at Outagamie Speedway
The 2021 season has been full of speedbumps and bad luck for Cade Dillard. However, on Tuesday night at Wisconsin’s Outagamie Speedway, he put that all behind him to take his S&S Fishing & Rental Inc. No. 97 MB Customs/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane. (Jacy Norgaard photo)
The win marked his second World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series win of the year and was worth $10,000.
"It just feels good," Dillard concluded in his emotional victory lane interview as he captured his second WoO victory of the season and fourth of his career. His previous victory came April 30 at Boone (Iowa) Speedway.
"It's been a rough year and these are hard to come by," Dillard said in victory lane with halting voice. "We're definitely racing against the best in the country and just to be able to race with these two Brandons (Overton and Sheppard) here is an honor in itself, but to be able to outrun 'em is pretty humbling. Like I said it's been a pretty rough year, so this feels good. We just had a really good car, and we've been working hard at it. Hopefully things have turned around."
Cade Dillard followed the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series to Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon for the FVP Platinum Batteries Showdown.
In a field of 29 cars, Dillard’s heat race win promoted him into the redraw. Receiving the fourth-starting position, Dillard whizzed past Brandon Overton for the lead on the 15th circuit and held off Brandon Sheppard late to capture his third overall win of the season and fourth of his career with the series. He finished ahead of Sheppard, Chris Madden, Ryan Gustin, and Brandon Overton to claim $10,000.
