After topping his time trial group, Cade blew a right-rear tire while running up front in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. Needing to place second or better, Dillard advanced through the field 10 spots but missed a transfer position with a fourth-place outing.
In a field of 37 cars on Wednesday afternoon at Adams County Speedway (Quincy, Ill.), Dillard followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a consolation victory. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Cade dropped one spot to finish 18th.
For another $5,000-to-win event on Thursday evening at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), Cade laid down fastest lap in his group before picking up a heat race win. Receiving the second-starting position for the feature via the redraw, Dillard paced the field for the opening 37 circuits but suffered a broken yoke on his driveshaft with two laps remaining that ended his night immediately. He was credited with an 18th-place finish.
On Friday, Dillard invaded Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) as the DIRTcar Summer Nationals collided with the World of Case Late Model Series for the St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff. Drawing 46 Late Models for the two-day event, Cade edged his way into the main event with a third-place finish in his heat. Losing three positions in the 40-lap affair, Dillard recorded a 13th-place outing.
For the finale on Saturday, Cade’s third-place finish in his heat race placed him on the fifth row for the $20,000-to-win main event. Carrying a steady pace in the 55-lapper, Dillard notched a 10th-place finish.
