Cade Dillard captures Wild West Shootout finale in Modified

The 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout resumed for Cade Dillard on Friday at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) where he racked up a pair of podium finishes.

Following a third-place showing in the Late Model A-Main, Dillard stormed into the Modified feature with a 20th-to-1st run in his consolation race. Passing 15 more cars, Cade marched to another third-place finish in the 25-lapper.

On Saturday, Cade secured his spot into both features via his heat races. He rolled to a consistent fifth-place finish in the 30-lap Late Model A-Main while climbing four positions in the Modified ranks to place 10th.

For the Willd West Shootout finale on Sunday, Dillard backed up the second-fastest lap in his Late Model time trial group with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat. Chasing the $25,000 top prize in the feature, Cade posted a third-place finish, which came behind Kyle Larson and Mike Marlar.

Lined up on the front row of the Modified feature, Cade claimed the Wild West Shootout Modified championship in dominating fashion with his fourth Modified win in the event by a 3.794 second margin. The $2,000 victory marked his fifth overall of the season.

On top of winning the WWS Modified title, Dillard finished second in the Late Model chase.
